A six member boy group is preparing for their debut and are hoping to win the hearts and minds of not only the South Korean public but of international fans too! The group consists of Nam Seong Mo, Park Seok Joon, Yoon Ye Chan, Cho Seong Il, Hwang Seong Bin, and Kim Do Gyun, who are all excited to debut and meet their new fans.

Previously known as RAREHOUSE, the group has decided to rebrand to increase excitement. The name 82MAJOR links the boys to their home country with 82 being the country code for South Korea. The word “major” comes from the group wanting to become a major player in the Korean music industry. This connection to their culture will act as a constant reminder as to where the group has come from and will act to keep them grounded throughout their future success.

Drawing a crowd

82MAJOR has already been catching the attention of the public with their innovative way of teasing their debut. Using a huge LED display in the middle of the street projecting a record player on it, the group were able to amass a crowd both in person and online to show off a snippet of their possible debut track.

The video highlights the group’s dance abilities by showcasing an impressive but subtle part of their choreography. The soundtrack to the dance features the twang of an electric guitar, a mid-tempo drum beat, and, of course, sweet vocals. It seems that 82MAJOR are taking a lighter approach to K-pop compared to many of the abrasive and loud comebacks that groups have been drawn towards.

Getting social

The group has been utilising their TikTok and Instagram page to gain fans and are clearly on top of the latest trends. From funny videos to dance challenges, 82MAJOR has it all! Their covers of NewJeans tracks and even the latest Doja Cat TikTok dance have created a huge buzz around their debut. The bubbly personalities that shine through on all of their posts make it hard not to fall for 82MAJOR.

For new fans that can’t wait for their debut on 11 October, their YouTube channel is filled with videos to keep you satisfied. Each member has been given a platform to highlight their particular talents and interests. Seong Il’s cover of Crush’s “Rush Hour” and the group’s BLACKPINK medley are must-watch videos. But if you are more captivated by choreography, 82MAJOR also has a special performance video of their original track “Illegal” that is sure to thrill anyone.

82MAJOR’s future definitely seems bright. Their ability to stay on top of recent trends and their undeniable talent will place them in a great position to break into the music industry. The group is likely to test out a variety of genres to see what really sticks with them but no matter what track they debut with, it is sure to please fans that have been anticipating this moment for many months.
